Vega really is one tough guy to beat. One of your best chances is to use the Criminal Uppercut and High Ruffian Kick to counter his exteremely annoying jump-in attacks. Use the knife to your advantage- it has greater reach and increased damage not to mention putting the hurt on his guard meter.

His S.strong also puts paid to several of his pesky air attacks. Use his c.medium kick when you have the distance to recover. And when he leaves himself open (and if you have the meter for it) bust out his kick super (Dead End Irony) because chances are that he would not be on the ground long enough for Final Distance to truly connect.

My experiences with Vega users are horrifying. Vega has that quick high jump and he beats you easily in the air unless you're using a fierce. They also have a habit of jumping straight up once they get near you to catch you ducking and proceeds with poking and jumping and running away. It'll be a major advantage if you knock his claw off (why does he have that on anyway? imagine Cody with that claw ...BWAHAHA...) and he'll spend the rest of the time trying to pick it up. Stand over it and turtle.

As Bad Stones are more or less ineffective in this match-up, it might be wise to tinker with that knife to give an extra edge to your poking game. Seems fair to me, metal claw .. metal knife :) Now 'bout that lame bouncing off the wall thingy they call Izuna Drop, you have a perfect counter: s.strong. The move hits high and deep and is ideal if he's trying for a cross-up drop or slash. Watch where he's flying though, judge the flight of his jump and react accordingly. Tough one to beat.

Find out as early as possible if it's safe to jump or not, meaning jump in often and see if your opponent can counter. If he's good at using Vega's V-flipkick or A-super flipkick, your gonna be fighting an uphill battle. You dodge his claw pokes but not his slides. Try to slide in quickly if he throws a strong or fierce, easier said than done, I know. If he bounces off the wall, duck at first, to make sure he's not doing the quick spring, then stand your ground and throw a st. strong. It will beat him unless he comes in very shallow or EXTREMELY deep.

Block his V-combo and counter with one of your own, but always start with a cr. jab, cause you need a quick, high priority move or else he'll roll right over you. If he likes Vega's quick jump and is flying all around you trying to cross you up, jump straight up and air throw his ass. He has a very tough time breaking up your corner trap, so long as you don't jump in.
